HISTORY

SINCOPA jazz band was born by the end of 2004 in Bucaramanga; ever since, it has been recognized around the country as one of the best bands in its genre and the only one to play traditional jazz.
Outstanding in its repertory, there are some of the most representative melodies from Dixieland and Blues such as Muscrat Ramble, Basin Street Blues and Tiger Rag.
In 2006, the band started to include traditional pieces from Colombian folklore to its repertory. Among them: Pueblito Viejo (Old LittleTown), Vieja Ruana (Old Poncho) and Mi Buenaventura (My Buenaventura).  Every song is arranged and adapted to the Dixieland style, nonetheless carefully keeping its rhythmic as well as its original melody.
Nowadays the band consists of: Lina Bautista and Patricia Correa (vocalists), Joel Santos (soprano sax), Javier Parada (trumpet), Johan Ricardo Gomez (trombone), Cristian Camilo Carrascal (banjo & vocalist), Leonardo Parra (drums) and Janusz Kopytko (double bass and direction).
Despite its short career, SINCOPA Jazz Band has performed over 100 concerts in Bucaramanga, Armenia, Barrancabermeja, Barranquilla, Cali, Cerrejón-Guajira, Pereira, Tunja, Santa Marta  and San Andrés Islands. The band has stood out in every single presentation due to its musical giftedness, charm and that 20’s like sound that has been successfully adapted to reach the contemporary audience.
